Tarragona

Tarragona, one time capital of the peninsula under the Romans, is a pleasant coastal resort approximately 100km south of Barcelona (i.e., an hour or so by train). Tarragona, on the Costa Dorada, is a lively town, but not too big. It enjoys extensive sandy beaches. Nearby is Port Aventura, one of Europe's largest theme parks.
