Quito (Ecuador)

The capital city of Ecuador, Quito, in a long valley on the eastern slopes of an Andean volcano 2.850 metres above sea level, is often thought of as the bridesmaid: it’s the second highest capital in the world (c.f., La Paz, Bolivia) and the second largest city in terms of population in Ecuador (c.f., Guayaquil).

Surrounded by volcanoes and mountains, Quito, with its architecture, museums, shops and cafes is the ideal starting place for visiting Ecuador.
