Nerja
is where the mountains of the Sierra Almijara come down to the sea. It
is a Spanish town, not a tourist town, in a spectacular setting between
the foothills of the mountains and the sparkling Mediterranean.
A place where clear fresh mountain water flows in abundance, making the
village a paradise of trees, flowers and colour all year round. It lies
in one of Spain's richest farming areas: the 'Garden of Europe’.
It is an area of outstanding beauty situated in the midst of a tropical
valley with its olive groves, avocado trees, fields of wild strawberries
and the greatest variety of exotic plants all encouraged by what is considered
to be the best all year round climate in Europe.
Because of its unique location, and being protected from the north by
the majestic, snow-capped, Sierra Nevada range, Nerja has its own microclimate.
