| Córdoba
Córdoba,
birthplace of the Roman stoic Seneca, the Muslim Averroes, the Jewish
Maimonides and Luis de Góngora, rose in the C10th to be the second
largest city in the world after Constantinople.
The city, nowadays a thriving community giving its name to one of the
eight provinces of Andalusia (Southern Spain), retains many impressive
architectural reminders of its history (Christian as well as Muslim).
