 Castellón
de la Plana dates back to medieval times (C13th). It is situated between
the sea and the mountain range of Desert de les Palmas with a population
of 140,000. The old quarter around the Plaza Mayor, the Plaza de Santa
Clara and the Plaza de la Pescadería has many ancient buildings.
The city is both modern and historically interesting. It lies in the north
of the Valencian Community just half an hour from Valencia and around
two hours from Barcelona by train.
